One of the more exotic creatures through Croydon are the unique 171s on the Uckfield service.

An inbound 171 unusually routed into platform 3 on account of congestion. Trains from the south were being turned and sent back south. And at least one, with the highly unusual destination of Bognor and Ore, came though non-stop, an honour usually reserved for the Gatwick trains.
